I observed 5 videos of a similar genre or sound to my chosen track and gathered YouTube statistics.

Saving Aimee-Small Talk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0t5b05J1LgM accessed 09/10/11
This video contains some elements in my chosen track and also I may use studio shots in a similar style for my performance elements. This video was popular with a similar audience 13-17 year olds of both genders but older females aged 18-24 instead of males. This video was most popular in Britain probably because Saving Aimee were a British unsigned band and only lasted four years.
Bring Me the Horizon-Blessed With A Curse
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okCcL8daFAg accessed 09/10/11
This video has a similar theme of emotional breakdown and contains similar shots to my planned music video. It also features the front man as the main male character. This video was popular mainly with both genders aged 13-17 and males 18-24. Unlike the other two this video was viewed in the states increasingly more than previous videos.
Simple Plan-Your Love is a Lie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAbcgmwq3EU&ob=av2e accessed 09/10/11
This video is narrative based and has a similar theme to my proposed video and some elements of the track, this features the lead singer as the main actor in the video and another female actor similar to the narrative of my proposed video. As with all the other videos in this piece of research this video and track is mostly popular with both genders aged 13-17 and then males aged 18-24. This video is hugely popular in the states compared to the previous.
AFI-Silver & Cold
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BguZZ3rGKe0 accessed 09/10/11
This video has a narrative featuring the lead singer as the main character I have discover this to be common ground for narrative based music videos. The viewing statistics are slightly different to previous videos this video and track is more popular with a slightly older audience of both genders aged 18-24 and only females aged 13-17. The video and track was most popular in the states probably because the band is of American origin.
Taylor Swift-Whitehorse
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1Xr-JFLxik accessed 10/10/11
This feature is fully narrative based and has a similar storyline to my proposed video where the singer is the main character. Although this is not the genre of my chosen track the video theme is relevant. The viewing statistics are different as to be expected from a video of another genre this video is most popular with females aged 13-44 the statistics alone enhance the fact this video is different to the previous. This video is mainly popular in the United States and Australia.
Chosen Target Audience
My chosen target audience is Males and Females aged 13-19 because this seemed to be the average age in the video’s I studied relating to the genre of my track. The videos I researched are the sort of music and video style my peers and I regularly watch and listen to. My proposed video and the videos I researched also relate to issues people of this age group frequently come across. I am going to use actors of this age group to make the video seem more relatable to my chosen audience. I am hoping to achieve a narrative flowing video with flashbacks included. I have chosen universal imagery of a heterosexual couple also to add a sense of realism to my narrative. I am intending my music video to be read as a character that is seriously struggling to come to terms with a break up and cannot understand why his Ex will not give him another chance. I have chosen to use a mobile phone and Facebook picture which then gets ripped up this symbolises the fact that the Ex is not coming back.
